Weed–Insect Interactions in Annual Cropping Systems

چکیده

Abstract Agricultural production is increasingly viewed as more than a source of food, feed, fiber and fuel, but also system interdependent biotic abiotic components that interact to produce ecosystem services disservices. Weeds insects are commonly non-desirable agroecosystems should be managed. However, weeds can provide benefits cropping systems, such providing resources habitat pollinators other beneficial arthropods. This review on weed–insect interactions in annual systems focuses functional within the context regulating supporting Regulating those act regulators environment, contribute pollination biological control, disservices crop cover seed predation, maintenance insect pests insect-transmitted phytopathogens. Supporting include biodiversity necessary for types services. Here we impacts component biodiversity. We conclude by identifying some knowledge gaps hinder our understanding trade-offs when seeking improve net positive systems.

Soil Fungal Resources in Annual Cropping Systems and Their Potential for Management

Soil fungi are a critical component of agroecosystems and provide ecological services that impact the production of food and bioproducts. Effective management of fungal resources is essential to optimize the productivity and sustainability of agricultural ecosystems. In this review, we (i) highlight the functional groups of fungi that play key roles in agricultural ecosystems, (ii) examine the ...

Interactions among leguminous trees, crops and weeds in a no-till alley cropping system

Trees improve the soil quality and their rapid growth in the tropics make agroforestry systems potentially effective for establishing low-input agricultural systems in this region. This study assessed the effects of the biophysical interactions among leguminous trees, weeds, cotton and maize in an alley cropping system. The experiment comprised six treatments: Clitoria + Gliricidia; Acacia ...
